Working remotely enabled me to transition towards a balanced life

I fully immerse in every project I am working on, giving it my full attention and time. While still living a stationary life, nestled in an urban area in Germany, it was difficult for me to take the foot off the accelerator. It was only when I started to venture off working remotely that I embarked on a transition towards a balanced life. It came with the territory, meaning that I also wanted to experience the places I was spending time at.

But let me be clear. The transition did not happen overnight, and there was a season where I struggled to not immerse myself in my work but to venture out. The transition happened over years. Slowy and painfully, sometimes brutally. But I guess that this is what is bound to happen when you start breaking free from cultural norms and habits that you have been around for most of your life.

While in transition, reflecting on many questions, I discovered the knowledge and wisdom of the oldest healing system in the world – Ayurveda. Following the principles of Ayurveda continuously over time made a huge difference for me to regain and maintain balance in my life.

Originating in India and Sri Lanka some 5.000 years ago, Ayurveda means “knowledge of life”. It helps a healthy person to maintain health, and a person with illness to regain health. Based on the idea that disease is due to an imbalance or stress in a person's consciousness, Ayurveda encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs to regain a balance between the body, mind, spirit, and the environment.

During the course of our lives, we may occasionally feel out of balance, stressed and out of touch with our inner self. At such times an Ayurveda treatment can work wonders, improving the overall condition of your body, mind and soul. Many illnesses result from the build-up of toxins through various seasons in our life, which can impair the body’s natural defenses through the lymph, circulatory and immune systems. Ayurveda promotes healing and restoration by eliminating these toxins from the body.

Based on my own experiences I decided to set-up tropical holiday homes for remote workers to combine their remote working life with Ayurvedic treatments.
