Good day - may God's peace and blessings be with you.
Certain times have certain business practices that have a profound impact on markets. Some of those business practices, which have been accepted by the people as standard, do not conform to the principles of the Kingdom of God.
Fake scarcity is one of such practices. When using fake scarcity as a way of doing business, a product or service is artificially limited in either time or quantity with the intend to create emotional pressure on the customer regarding the purchase decision. This emotional pressure is intended to make the customer feel that they will miss out on significant benefits if they do not decide to purchase quickly.
Fake scarcity contrasts with the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is a kingdom of abundance. There is no scarcity there.
2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV) “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”
When selling products and services that are subject to time or supply limitations, Kingdom principles tell us that we should ensure that the deadlines set are genuine and that the supply is truly limited.
Honesty and integrity should be paramount in our dealings with employees, customers, and suppliers. We must not allow ourselves to be tempted by greed to engage in questionable practices that have been accepted in the world but are not in accordance with the Kingdom of God.
Proverbs 11:1 (ESV) "A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight."
When customers perceive a company as trustworthy, strong and loyal customer relationships develop. Integrity is the solid foundation for lasting, strong business relationships and thus the basis for entrepreneurial success. A success that is built over time, enabling a steady growth based on a solid foundation.
Matthew 13:31-32 (ESV) “(31) He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. (32) It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
A reputation for honesty is worth more than the money we can gain by risking it.
Proverbs 22:1 (ESV) "A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.”
2 Kings 12:15 (ESV) “And they did not ask for an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly.”
Kingdom business relationships provide a win-win for buyer and seller. It is never set-up for one person to prosper at the expense of the other person.
